About the 2012 Formula One Austin Grand Prix
|
|||||||
The Formula One Grand Prix is headed to Austin for the first time in 2012! Austin, Texas, has officially been chosen as the host city for the Formula 1 Grand Prix beginning in 2012 and lasting until 2021. The Formula 1 season consists of a series of races held on all purpose-built circuits, and public roads. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual World Championships. Formula 1 cars race at high speeds, up to 360 km/h (220 mph) with engines revving up to a formula imposed limit of 18,000 rpm. The performance of the cars is highly dependent on electronics (although traction control and driving aids have been banned since 2008), aerodynamics, suspension, and tires. The formula has seen many evolutions and changes through the history of the sport.
